Nic Wayara

Nic is a radio host who believes in the power of storytelling from the margins. Her shows highlight the contributions and talents generously offered by Black and brown women and non-binary people in her community. Nic also works as an analyst, holding a Master of Public Administration and a BA in Gender, Race, Sexuality and Social Justice Studies. She finds joy in exploring the place where activism, humour, self-expression, and Black diasporic experiences intertwine.

Despite its growth, podcasting continues to struggle with diversity; often women, people of colour, LGBTQ2S and non-binary people do not see themselves represented as podcasters. Featuring a panel of diverse podcasters in Vancouver who are making the medium their own this session will discuss the role women and non-binary people are playing in transforming this emerging medium.
