Jamie-Leigh Gonzales

Jamie-Leigh is a Portuguese/Squamish mother, filmmaker, podcast creator, photographer, and poet, living on the unceded land of the Sḵwxwú7mesh, xʷməθkʷəym, səlilwətaɁɬ peoples. With a passion for technology and storytelling, Jamie-Leigh has become dedicated to her multimedia practices; through the creation of engaging content, she hopes to stimulate meaningful dialogue that challenges the status quo and encourages systemic change.

Jamie-Leigh cofounded a podcast, Engaged Citizen X, with Chantal Langley - which had 9 episodes produced, unfunded. While working at SFU’s Vancity Office of Community engagement she coproduced a podcast, Below the Radar launching in the fall of 2018. In 2019 she also produced a podcast episode for ALT+SPACE+CONTROL: Vancouver Housing Stories that looked at whether or not there are livable neighbourhoods for families in Vancouver.

She works as a designer, manager and collaborator with Nahanee Creative, a Squamish led company teaching decolonial ways of being.

Currently Jamie-Leigh’s podcast passion is rooted in Grounded Futures, a media production and mentorship collaborative, which she cofounded with carla bergman and Melissa Roach. Here Jamie-leigh is the lead tech and cohost of the pilot show, Grounded Futures, which she cohosts with carla bergman and two teen mentees.
